Love Meow’s Facebook page has a heartwarming story to share. A timid feline recently sought refuge at a shelter, nursing her new litter of kittens. Her goal was to start afresh and leave her troubled past behind her.
Phyllis, the feline hero at Best Friends Felines in Brisbane, Australia, has been making waves lately. One of the rescue’s supportive vets recently reached out to them about a mama cat and her litter of kittens in need of help. It was surprising news when they discovered that the petite feline was the mother of seven little babies who were just over a week old! Thankfully, Jen, a dedicated foster volunteer, offered her loving home to the family of eight and is providing them with all the care and attention they need. Way to go, Phyllis and all the amazing volunteers at Best Friends Felines!
The feline, Phyllis, seemed to be disapproving of humans as she gazed at them with unease. However, Jen was determined to create a bond with her despite the gradual process it would take to win her trust.
Phyllis and her offspring were situated in a serene and snug enclave for privacy while still permitting the foster family to supervise their well-being.
When she first came to foster care at Best Friends Felines, she was incredibly timid. However, it quickly became apparent that she was an exceptional mother to her seven adorable kittens. Ensuring they were well-fed and clean was a constant task, as she barely left their side except to eat and use the litter box.
After about a week, Jen and the other caretakers had a major breakthrough when they discovered Phyllis’s favorite treat. By hand-feeding her this special snack, they were able to gradually earn her trust and build a positive relationship.
According to Jen from @bestfriendsfelines, Phyllis has become more friendly towards them since her arrival. Although there are still some hissy moments, the purring and occasional smooches make it worth it. Phyllis is delighted to have food provided to her four times a day, which is much better than having to worry about where her next meal will come from. She eagerly eats every morsel so she can keep up with her seven demanding kittens.

Phyllis barely gets any rest because when one of her numerous babies is awake, she has to attend to them. However, thanks to Jen’s unwavering support, Phyllis gradually became more at ease around people. As her offspring became more energetic and daring, Phyllis even began taking some time off from motherhood.
As soon as the kittens were done nursing, they transformed into lively and self-sufficient little creatures who effortlessly mastered the use of litter trays. Phyllis would take pleasure in observing their playful antics from a distance as they dashed around their play area, scaling anything within reach with their tiny paws. As Phyllis found herself with more free time on her hands, she began to join in on the fun and also enjoyed watching the birds outside.
According to @bestfriendsfelines, Phyllis has recently found a new passion for playing. She seems to be really enjoying her toys, climbing posts, treats, and the freedom to race around the house. Her owner Jen shared that having a variety of toys seems to make her very happy as she pounces, bats, and tackles them with great finesse. It’s wonderful to see that Phyllis has regained her confidence and is once again playing like a kitten. She can now retire from motherhood and enjoy being the cat she’s always wanted to be.
@bestfriendsfelines shared that as the kittens grew, they were adopted one by one to loving families. Phyllis, on the other hand, waited patiently for her ideal family while spending time at home and discovering new things. She developed a keen interest in the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and would often offer her own opinions while hoping to get some treats.
Jen from @bestfriendsfelines mentioned that the cat they are taking care of is not only cute but also talkative. She has the most pleasant meows while she strolls around the house. Phyllis, the cat, was rescued along with her seven little kittens. Gradually, she got used to being in a home environment and is now waiting for someone special to adopt her.
Meet Amelia, a cat lover who was smitten with Phyllis from the moment she laid eyes on her. Despite Phyllis’ timid nature, Amelia saw potential for a loving companion and welcomed her into her home with open arms. Now, Phyllis is a cherished member of Amelia’s family, who believes that with time, she’ll become an affectionate feline.
